Prague Gaming Summit 2018 to highlight Poland gambling market via Piotr Dynowski

Andel’s by Vienna House Prague will host the Prague Gaming Summit on March 29, with organizers working to create a powerful lineup of speakers. Several topics of interest within the gaming industry will be on the schedule, with a focus on the Czech Republic and neighboring countries and an exclusive panel having been created specifically for the Polish gambling market.

Just recently, organizers announced guest speaker Piotr Dynowski of Bird & Bird. Mr. Dynowski is a leading Intellectual Property, patent and IP litigation attorney in Poland who provides advice in the realm of gambling law, particularly within the online gaming sector and social gaming. An expert in licensing regimes and regulatory issues, Mr. Dynowski also focuses his efforts on assisting with advertising and such services as electronic payments as related to gambling products.

Mr. Dynowski was recently interviewed by organizers of the event, where he provided an introduction to the team as to what could be expected from his panel during the Prague Gaming Summit on the Polish Gambling market. After being asked for his opinion on the European gambling industry and how it compares to the situation in Poland, he replied:

“Unfortunately, Poland is still one of the most restrictive markets in Europe with respect to gambling and doing business by gambling operators in Poland is still pretty difficult, but apparently the changes to the Polish gambling regulations introduced last year were quite beneficial to the licensed betting operators and helped them almost double their turnover in comparison to the previous years. In general running gambling business, even in the EU, is very difficult as legal regulations differ significantly from country to country, some are very restrictive, others pretty liberal, and it is one of probably very few industry sectors left in the EU that are still completely unharmonized and where it seems the fundamental freedoms on which the EU is based do not really apply. Gambling industry has also to struggle all the time with negative perception by many governments and sometimes also negative image in the society. Generally gambling is still often perceived as something a little doggy and causing a lot of harm to the society despite all the efforts of the industry towards fraud protection, fighting gambling addiction and other important initiatives to prove that it is not a different industry than any other entertainment industries.”

Along with Mr. Dynowski, Anna Wietrzynska-Ciolkowska of DLA Piper will also be a guest speaker during the conference. Mrs. Wietrzynaska-Ciolkowska will be taking part in the Focus on Poland panel discussion with moderator Bogdan Coman of ROMBET. More speakers are to be announced in the near future.
