Sunday premiere for Jeju Shinhwa World casino

In South Korea, real estate firm Landing International Development Limited has reportedly announced that it will open the 59,201 sq ft casino for its giant Jeju Shinhwa World project on Sunday.

According to a Thursday report from GGRAsia, the revelation from the Hong Kong-listed firm following the conditional approval to relocate which it received on Wednesday. The coming foreigner-only casino is due to be located inside the 617.7-acre development’s Jeju Shinhwa World Marriott Resort hotel offering some 239 slots alongside 155 gaming tables.

GGRAsia reported that Landing International Development Limited had originally intended to inaugurate the casino for Jeju Shinhwa World in December but had deferred this premiere several times as it awaited permission to relocate units from a similar facility it operates inside the nearby Hyatt Regency Jeju hotel.

“The company expects the Landing casino to become one of the key attractions for visitors to Jeju Shinhwa World upon its relocation as it will serve to offer visitors a complete world-class hospitality, leisure and entertainment experience,” reportedly read a Wednesday statement from Landing International Development Limited.

Previously known as Myths and History Park and then Resorts World Jeju, Jeju Shinhwa World already features multi-purpose convention facilities and a pair of luxury hotels as well as an amusement park with 20 rides spread across seven zones. Alongside these, April saw Landing International Development Limited inaugurate the Jeju venue’s 344-unit Somerset Jeju Shinhwa World condominium complex with guests moreover able to enjoy a water park, a retail quarter and a spa alongside a selection of food and beverage outlets.

“With relocation of the Landing casino to Jeju Shinhwa World, we will be one of the few integrated resort operators in Jeju and [South] Korea that can offer to visitors a complete world-class hospitality, leisure and entertainment experience,” reportedly read a Wednesday statement from Yang Zhihui, Chairman for Landing International Development Limited.

In related news, GGRAsia additionally reported that Wednesday saw Landing International Development Limited release its financial results for the twelve months to the end of December showing that it had recorded a profit of just over $64.5 million, which compared to a loss of $140.6 million for the whole of 2016.

The Chinese firm reportedly declared that annual revenues for Jeju Shinhwa World reached approximately $8.9 million thanks to healthy ticket sales for its theme park alongside takings for its hospitality, food and beverage offerings while its business inside the Hyatt Regency Jeju posted a 2017 deficit of $14.9 million compared to a previous twelve-month profit of $11.9 million.
